Delta Lodging Group Announces New TownePlace Suites by Marriott Project in Corinth

CORINTH, Mississippi  — A new 89-room TownePlace Suites by Marriott (TPS) will soon be coming to Corinth, Mississippi.

Marriott International Inc. signed a franchise and operating agreement with Delta Lodging Group (DLG) in December. The hotel is slated to break ground in fall 2024 with a tentative opening in early 2026.

“We are ecstatic to introduce TownePlace Suites as Corinth’s newest lodging attraction,” said Delta Lodging Group owner and president Suresh Chawla. “This hotel will soon be the budding centerpiece in the city for travelers looking to stay for the weekend or even several months.”

TownePlace Suites by Marriott is an award-winning, extended-stay hotel brand that is ideal for the upbeat realist traveler who needs accommodations for longer stays. The brand features a laid-back modern design, which is simple, modern style characterized by personal touches and playful details, allowing guests to live uninterrupted. Offering studio and one-bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens, and closet units from The Container Store, the brand provides thoughtful spaces for both living and working.

“This pet-friendly hotel will also feature a fitness center, an outdoor patio, a guest laundry, and a complimentary breakfast, all of which caters to the needs of both short-term and extended-stay guests,” said Sarah Ozbun, CEO of Delta Lodging Group. “We are certain our travelers who are coming to Corinth for business or visiting the city for the famous Slugburger Festival will be comfortable at our new TPS.”

“More hotel rooms allow for more overnight visitors to Corinth which will create opportunities for our community to host large tour groups, tournaments, conventions, trade shows and many other large gatherings which is a win-win for all of our local businesses,” said Corinth Mayor Ralph Dance.

Corinth’s new TPS is associated with Delta Lodging Group, a management company that owns and operates 15 hotels in Northwest Mississippi. Delta Lodging Group’s portfolio includes five Hampton Inn hotels, three Holiday Inn Express and Suites hotels, one Tru by Hilton hotel, and six hotels under the Choice Hotels brands of lodging establishments.

DLG has been looking for expansion opportunities for several years, Ozbun said, and after visiting Corinth and meeting several locals, she knew this was the start of a great partnership.

“We are excited to welcome Delta Lodging Group to Corinth,” said Clayton Stanley, President of The Alliance. “For many years Corinth has not had enough hotel rooms to meet the demand of our business and tourism visitors. We appreciate the confidence DLG has in our community by selecting Corinth as the next place to grow their great company, and we welcome their investment.”
