Mississippi Major Disaster Relief Fund

The Mississippi Economic Council’s MB Swayze Foundation and Supertalk Mississippi Media have established a relief fund to assist Mississippians impacted by major disasters.

With the money raised in this fund, the two organizations will work with local communities, local chambers, as well as our state and local elected officials to assist with local needs in the wake of tragedy.

Why it matters: There are agencies equipped to help with rapid response, The Red Cross, Salvation Army, MEMA and FEMA. However, most often there are continued needs long after groups have completed the immediate assistance that is so vital after a major disaster.

Working with local and state groups, these funds will be used to provide additional relief. Among these may include:

  • Housing assistance
  • Food donations
  • Household items
  • Scholarships to students impacted
  • Other needs as identified

Making donations:

Donations will be accepted online with either a credit card, with an online check, or by mail.

Mailing Payments

  • Checks should be made out to the MEC/Swayze Foundation Disaster Fund and mailed to MEC/Swayze Foundation, P.O. Box 23276, Jackson, MS 39225-3276.

General Information:

MEC’s MB Swazye Foundation is a Section 501(c)(3) public charity and donations to it are generally eligible for tax deduction in the United States. The Federal Tax ID number for MEC’s MB Swayze Foundation is 64-0602740. The fund adheres to the bylaws and articles of incorporation of the MB Swayze Foundation, as the fund is charitable, and has a specific purpose approved by the board of the MB Swayze Foundation, a subsidiary of the Mississippi Economic Council.
