Mississippi Business Journal Acquired By Coopwood Publishing Group

Coopwood Publishing Group, Inc, a Cleveland, Mississippi-based media and publishing company, has finalized a deal in which the company will take over ownership of the monthly newspaper, the Mississippi Business Journal, from publishers Journal, Inc. of Tupelo.

“Journal Inc. has purposely re-centered our efforts on our home in Northeast Mississippi and because of these efforts we needed to find a home for our Jackson-based publication, the Mississippi Business Journal,” said William Bronson, President and CEO of Journal, Inc. “We found a great publisher and new friend in Scott Coopwood and are thrilled in the direction he will take this proud publication. It is a win for all involved, but most importantly for the State of Mississippi.”

“As we embark on this new chapter as the proud and committed owner of the Mississippi Business Journal, my team and I am filled with excitement and determination to uphold its legacy as the premier publication for business news and insights in our great state,” said Coopwood Publishing Group owner, Scott Coopwood. “With a thirty-six year track record in publishing award-winning titles such as Delta Magazine, Delta Business Journal, Delta Ag Journal, our weekly newspaper The Bolivar Bullet, and our three e-newsletters, my team and I are committed to leveraging our expertise and experience to elevate the Mississippi Business Journal to new heights.”

Coopwood pointed to the many successful economic development projects that are currently taking place around state and that Mississippi’s narrative as a state is quickly changing for the better.

“It will be our business successes that will continue that positive narrative across the nation,” said Coopwood. “And, our team will capture this incredible story, as a whole, and the amazing stories that make up that whole. At our publications, we have always strived to be more than just a source of news – we are storytellers, advocates and champions of Mississippi’s vibrant story.”

Coopwood said his company is excited to embark on this new journey with MBJ’s loyal readers, contributors, and partners.

“Together, we’ll chart a course that reflects the dynamic and diverse landscape of Mississippi’s business community, and we’ll celebrate its achievements  while addressing its challenges and championing its future success.”
