Human Resources Manager
Michelle Kerr is the Human Resource Manager at Caterpillar Inc. located in Northeast Mississippi. In her role, she provides leadership to the human resources, training and communications teams while supporting the Mississippi Reman campuses’ through the leadership and execution of the People Strategy. The Remanufacturing campus encompasses has four of the six Caterpillar facilities located in northeast Mississippi, with an average of 1500 employees. These facilities support the remanufacturing of mid-range to large engines and engine components, processes while processing core returns while and providing dealer support. In her role, Michelle is responsible for managing the day to day people initiatives that range from areas of support in attracting and retaining talent, supporting health and safety initiatives, improving the workplace experience and developing the current workforce. Caterpillar’s Remanufacturing business returns end of life end-of-life products back to a like-new state, leveraging the skills and talents of an engaged, diverse and skilled workforce in tandem with the most advanced technological processes. Michelle has supported this business since 2017.
Michelle started her career with Caterpillar in 1996 in Peoria, Illinois, serving in a variety of roles throughout the organization. She began her career in Peoria, Illinois; She has fulfilled global assignments and taken her family to four states before finally being able to call calling Mississippi home. Michelle has experience in employee and labor relations, compensation and benefits, leadership and engagement consulting, facility acquisitions, talent development, operations leadership and is a Certified 6-Sigma blackbelt. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in business management is from the University of Illinois. Michelle is recognized for her passion for people, which is why she continues to gravitate toward serving in leadership roles directly tied to production facilities.
