MEC STAR Program Honors 2020-2021 STAR Students & STAR Teachers

On Thursday, April 29, 2021, MEC’s Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program recognized the academic achievements of the state’s Top 20 ALL STAR Scholars, ALL STAR Teachers, and Hall of Fame Teacher Inductees at an awards ceremony at Mississippi College. The theme for the 2021 Education Event was “Strength & Resilience.” This year, more than 300 top scholars and leading teachers qualified for recognition in the STAR program, the most prestigious educational recognition program in the state.

Each STAR Student will receive a medallion, lapel pin, and certificate and each STAR Teacher will receive a lapel pin and certificate.

The STAR scholarships are provided by the Kelly Gene Cook, Sr. Charitable Foundation, Inc. The top ALL-STAR Scholar will receive a four-year $24,000 scholarship. The first runner-up will receive a four-year $20,000 scholarship; the second runner-up scholar will receive a four-year $16,000 scholarship. These scholarships are awarded in equal payments over four years and are contingent upon student performance. The STAR Teachers of these top ALL STAR Scholars will receive a $1,000 award. Each of the remaining ALL-STAR Scholars will receive a $1,000 scholarship, with his or her STAR Teacher receiving a $500 award.
