Erin W. Smith is the proud wife to Brett and mother of Bryce, Hampton, and Ashlynn. She formerly oversaw AARP Foundation’s 6.6 million dollar Food Insecurity Nutrition Incentive (FINI) Grant Project, Fresh Savings and Fresh Savings Rx, across the state of Mississippi. This fresh fruit and vegetable incentive and food prescription program is groundbreaking and is the first of its kind in Mississippi. Erin has been on the project since the beginning of its inception in 2015, single handedly securing over 20 small businesses and three medical clinics to participate. Working with almost ten Kroger stores and small businesses alike, the program spans across the state and has over 30 locations throughout 17 counties. With Erin’s leadership and strategic planning, in 2018 Mississippi’s program served over 200,000 individuals.
In addition to her career at AARP Foundation, Erin is part-owner to Particular Poultry, Inc., an eight house broiler poultry farm operation, and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Brookhaven School District and the University of Southern Mississippi’s International Alumni Association. Philanthropic endeavors are essential to Erin’s life philosophy of giving back. She is a member of Heuck’s Retreat Baptist Church, Blessings in a Backpack, the Eagle Club, and life memberships include: Junior Auxiliary of Brookhaven, Kappa Delta, Beta Sigma Chapter, University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Association, and Copiah-Lincoln Community College Alumni Association.
The Mississippi Business Journal recognized her as a Top 50 Under 40 Business Leader in 2018 and a member of the Top 50 Leading Businesswomen class of 2017.
