BullsEye Public Affairs recently announced that it has been awarded three coveted National Pollie Awards from the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC). Hailed as “the Oscars of political advertising,” the Pollie Awards are the industry’s highest honor bestowed upon political consultants at the national and international level. BullsEye was recognized for its exemplary work during the 2020 political season for both candidate and public affairs campaigns in Direct Mail, Radio, and Phones divisions.
BullsEye Public Affairs is a sister company of Capitol Resources, LLC, focused on helping political campaigns win and organizations effectively tell their stories and run successful, sophisticated, modern campaigns.
“We’ve never submitted any of our work for a Pollie, so we are excited for our team and clients to win this national award and get this affirmation of our work,” said Henry Barbour, managing partner of BullsEye Public Affairs. “We have a group of talented, creative individuals who love what they do, and it shows. It’s nice to have award-winning material, but even more than that, we are pleased to help our clients win.”
BullsEye won the following Pollie Awards:
- Gold Pollie for Direct Mail – Candidate PAC/Super PAC Division for “Jackpot Justice Election Edition” Scratch-off – In the race for Mississippi Supreme Court’s third district, BullsEye worked for third party client Improve Mississippi PAC and used the “Jackpot Justice” theme to effectively define the targeted candidate as a trial lawyer-friendly judicial candidate. The scratch-off portion of the mail piece revealed the money raised by our opponent from different groups of advocates for “Jackpot Justice.”
- Bronze Pollie for “Best Use of Humor” in Radio – Candidate Division for Reject “Jackpot Justice” – The radio spot begins with the sounds of a casino while a voice that sounds like a game show host welcomes everyone to play “Jackpot Justice” election style. It goes on to contrast the opponent and his cronies with the humble, rural upbringing of incumbent Coleman.
- Gold Pollie for “Best Use of Automated SMS Texting” – Phones Division for “It’s Time” – During the heat of last summer’s legislative battle over changing the Mississippi State flag, BullsEye worked with the Alliance for Mississippi’s Future to help persuade legislators to vote change the flag, including text messages encouraging voters to contact their legislators. The text had the now former state flag as the background with the simple message of “It’s Time – Change the Flag” and the number to call for their legislator.
According to the AAPC, “The 2021 Contest was the largest in AAPC history with over 400 firms participating. Only six percent of submitted entries were awarded the top honor of a Gold Pollie.”
“2020 was the most challenging year in our lifetimes – for our country, our families and our work. Political consultants experimented, innovated and delivered for their clients,” said Rose Kapolczynski, AAPC President. “The record-breaking number of entries demonstrates that competition was tough in an election cycle that saw more money raised for campaigns than ever before. Huge congratulations to all the winners for being recognized for their contributions.”

About the Pollie Awards
The Pollie Awards (Pollies) are bipartisan honors awarded annually by the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) to members of the political advertising and communications industry who have demonstrated superior work on behalf of their candidates and causes. A blind jury of their professional peers selects AAPC award winners. Esquire magazine has dubbed the Pollies“…the Oscars of political advertising.”
