Class of 2020 Holds Virtual Gulf Coast Session August 20
The Leadership Mississippi Class of 2020 held a virtual Gulf Coast session on Thursday, August 2020.
Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, the class was unable to travel to the Gulf Coast, but still heard from Kendra Simpson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at the Mississippi Aquarium; Dave Dennis, President of Specialty Contractors & Associates, Inc.; and Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes.
The next Leadership Mississippi session will showcase Clarksdale and the Mississippi Delta, and will be held virtually on October 8.
Class of 2020 Holds Pop Up Virtual Call in Lieu of Southaven Session
MEC’s Leadership Mississippi Southaven session was unfortunately canceled earlier this month due to concerns surrounding COVID-19.
However, leaders must adapt to change - and we weren’t going to let coronavirus stop us from having our first-ever Pop Up Virtual Leadership Mississippi session!
The Class of 2020 participated in a video call on Followership, and were joined by notable alumni like MEC Chair Lex Taylor of the Taylor Group, Inc.; Carmen Kyle from the Southaven Chamber of Commerce; Michael Bellipanni from Northcentral Electric Power; and Rebecca Wiggs from Butler Snow LLP.
There was also a special surprise appearance from former Governor Haley Barbour, a graduate of the second class of Leadership Mississippi! Gov. Barbour inspired the class on how to stay resilient through a crisis and reflected on his time as Governor during Hurricane Katrina.
We had a great time learning from these great leaders, and we can’t wait to see the Class of 2020 in person soon!
Leadership Mississippi Holds First Session of 2020 on February 6-7
The Leadership Mississippi Class of 2020 held its first session on February 6-7 at the Hilton Jackson.
The class underwent their program orientation and participated in a leadership development session with Chris Smith - CEO & Executive Coach of Experimental Development Group, LLC. On Friday, the class was guided through a Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Session with Dr. Nika White - President & CEO of Nika White Consulting, LLC.
