Leadership Mississippi Class Learns
About Economic Development in Tupelo
The Tupelo Session on Economic Development was held on June 11 & 12.
During the session the class enjoyed a bus tour of Tupelo learning about the history, heritage and culture, and how the city has grown through economic development. The bus tour was given by Leadership Mississippi graduate and leading Tupelo businessman Jack Reed Jr. The class took a tour of Elvis Presley’s birthplace. They toured the home where he was born and lived for a few years.
Lewis Whitfield, Senior Vice President of the CREATE Foundation and a 1975 Leadership Mississippi Graduate, spoke to the class. He discussed topics such as: Economic Development in the Tupelo/Northeast Mississippi area, the impact that the area has on the rest of the state, the CREATE Foundation, and much more.
Alumni of Leadership Mississippi and business partners from Tupelo gathered at Park Heights Restaurant for a reception to welcome and meet the 2015 class.
