The MEC Pine Belt Regional Roundup stopped recently in Magee on Thursday, March 5. Nearly 60 business and community leaders took part in the event, which focused on Mississippi’s economic competitiveness, educational achievement and workforce training, and healthy communities. In addition, there were discussion on transportation and utilizing the area’s natural resources to grow the economy.
Almost 45 percent of attendees believe a lack of skilled workforce is the biggest roadblock Mississippi faces in economic development. Almost 91 percent believe highways and bridges should be the top priority when improving the state’s transportation infrastructure.
