Schloegel Honored With MGA Geographic Visionary Award
Leadership Mississippi alumnus George Schloegel was recently honored with the Mississippi Geographical Alliance Geographic Visionary Award during a luncheon in Jackson. Schloegel is a graduate of the inaugural Leadership Mississippi Class of 1974-1975.
The annual MGA Geographic Visionary Award honors a Mississippi business or civic leader who recognizes the importance of global understanding and awareness for Mississippians and/or promotes understanding about Mississippi in other parts of the world.
Schloegel is a former Mayor of Gulfport and past CEO of Hancock Bank. He is a member of the Mississippi Business Hall of Fame and past President of the Mississippi Banking Association. He graduated from the University at New Orleans (LSUNO) in 1962, afterwards attending the Graduate School of Banking of the South at LSU. He completed Bank Marketing School at Northwestern University, Commercial Bank Management at Columbia University and the Senior Bank Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Schloegel served on the American Bankers Association Government Relations Council, Mississippi Power Company Board of Directors, Executive Board of the Gulf Coast Business Council, Mississippi School of Banking at the University of Mississippi, and is a Past Chair of Leadership Mississippi.
