Leadership Mississippi Holds 4th Session on Creative Economy in Oxford

lm oxford group

Leadership Mississippi recently held its 4th session on the creative economy in Oxford on August 21 & 22.

lm oxford stadiumDuring this session, the Class of 2014 toured The University of Mississippi, visiting historical and athletic sites throughout campus, including Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The class also experienced attractions around Oxford, touring Insight Park and Woodson Ridge Farms and taking a Double-Decker Bus tour of Oxford, complete with a special trip to The Square. It wouldn’t be a Leadership Mississippi session without a spectacular Alumni Reception, graciously hosted by Dr. Ernest and Machelle Williams at their home in Oxford.

The session was also filled with informative panels and seminars on the creative economy. Mary Margaret White of the Mississippi Development Authority led the class in “An Introduction to the Creative Economy,” and they heard from Ed Meek, Chef John Currence, Melissa Booth Hall, Wayne Andrews, Meaghin Burke and Robert Saarnio during the “Creative Economy – Who? What? and How?” panel.

MEC Executive Vice President and COO Scott Waller and Dr. Hank Bounds, Commissioner of the Institutions of Higher Learning discussed “Business Community Involvement and the Importance of Internships” in a later session.
