Leadership Mississippi Class of 2013 Gets History, Agriculture Lessons in Mississippi Delta

The Leadership Mississippi Class of 2013 recently completed an exciting session in the Mississippi Delta, focusing on Mississippi’s history and heritage and the agriculture industries.  While in the Delta, the class was treated to numerous informational sessions in Stoneville, such as “The Delta, Stoneville, and Its Impact”, “The Rise and Decline of a Great American Success Story – the U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish Industry”, and “The Impact of Stoneville on the Private Sector.”  After a bus tour of Greenville, hosted by Cary Karlson, executive director of the Chamber & Economic Development Center of Washington County, the Class capped their first day in the Delta off with an alumni reception at Harlow’s Casino Resort & Spa.

The second day of the Mississippi Delta session began with class presentations on perceptions vs. realities for the Mississippi Delta.  Afterward, the class had a delicious fish fry at the B.B. King Museum in Indianola.
